WHO WE ARE.

Building with Our People.

What Builds Us Up.

Life at McDonald Building Company is a perfect blend of care and concise work. We cultivate a safe, vibrant, and educational environment that is important to us, and we are proud to promote a professional yet relaxed, company style for everyone to thrive - whether in the field or the office. It is our robust and talented people that build us up each day and bring a depth of experiences and skills to each and every project. We energize each other, support each other, seek out varied perspectives and most importantly - we love what we do. We also enjoy our daily dose of fun!

As a mid-size, family-focused firm, we are increasingly mighty with the recent completion of several larger scale projects spanning from Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the surrounding metro areas. Ranked in the Top 25 Contractors in the Philadelphia Region, we are honored to build for some of the most impactful developers in the area.

We’re just built for this.

We Build on Education.

We enjoy fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and providing us all with the resources and support needed to succeed. MBC offers all-staff educational training with topics ranging from industry best practices to professional development. These monthly trainings, hosted by an internal education committee, encourages an open and interactive environment that supports creativity and knowledge-sharing with a focus AND BALANCE on Safety, Quality, and Productivity (SQP). SQP is what we prioritize as a foundation to pre-plan all construction activities to support staff operations and procedures the “MBC Way”. This emphasis provides a sense of well thought-out intention and guides our project teams to build with these philosophies in mind.

We Build on Innovation.

One of our foundational values is Adaptability - Be Adaptive and Flexible. We like to try new things and welcome new opportunities to learn and grow to improve how we provide our services to your project. Therefore, we seek and search all opportunities to adopt and integrate transformative construction technology and progressive delivery methods to help you achieve your new possible - now and for the future. Our continuous investment in technology and advanced software to learn and try new approaches enables us to provide cutting-edge solutions to projects and offer our clients a competitive edge where it matters most - cost savings, quality, and sustainability.

We Build on Community.

It is very gratifying to our team at McDonald Building Company to partner with our projects well beyond when the doors open and occupy. We always jump in with both feet to support the greater mission of the organizations we build for and there is no greater reward than making a lasting impact on the community surrounding our work. From groundbreakings, to steel toppings, and ribboncuttings, there is always a reason to celebrate the milestones that support our built environment and the experiences we share with our MBC family along the way.

We take a strong interest in the AEC industry and local membership organizations that support rising students in the industry, those that value the Philadelphia’s history and traditions, and those that embrace networking and partnerships throughout all facets of construction.

Beth Cichonski

Project Coordinator

Meet Beth - Project Coordinator, Proposal/Marketing Team Unicorn, and our personal hero. There isn’t much Beth doesn’t do around MBC! Beth is currently the Project Coordinator for several projects, including MDSA’s 3.0 University Place in Philadelphia and Kate’s Place for Project HOME. An incredible team player and innovative marketer, Beth is such a valuable asset to McDonald Building Company. Majoring in Marketing and a minor in Psychology from Philadelphia University, her expansive knowledge, and career in construction is one that is hard to find. When asked how she would describe MBC in three words? “Trustworthy, Innovative, Passionate”.

When Beth isn’t at the office, she’s usually enjoying time reading or now binge-watching The Servant by M. Night Shyamalan. Bring the popcorn and be prepared for the plot twists, people. And a fun little fact that may surprise you about Beth - she plays the drums!

“We have the best people! We have the most creative, hardworking team members that consistently work together to deliver the most amazing projects to our clients.”

Iliana Limon

Project Manager

Iliana joined McDonald Building Company in 2021 as a Project Manager and has since been an incredible asset to the team! Iliana graduated with a degree in Civil & Architectural Engineering from Drexel University and prior to MBC, she worked in Project Management in the Construction Management industry. She always had plans for a career path in design until a part-time job with a company overseeing the construction of a new school opened her eyes to opportunities in the construction management industry. “I loved working with different types of people in the field, seeing the action, and driving past a tangible object that I could point out and tell my kids, Mommy did that!”.

Since Iliana’s start at MBC, she has worked on Project HOME’s Rowan Judson Diamond as well as the Apartments at 400 West Elm in Conshohocken which was completed in the Spring of 2024. Iliana’s favorite part about the work we do at McDonald Building Company is the relationships built with owners, design teams, and subcontractors. What is essential to a successful project? Iliana: Being a team player, keeping organized, and problem-solving abilities are key.

A couple things to know about Iliana! She was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico where most of her extended family still lives. Iliana still enjoys traveling there with her husband and kids. Despite Iliana’s experience and background in the construction industry, she is afraid of heights. “I still love what we do and I will get out there and climb 20 foot gang ladders or get on a hoist to the 60th floor, but I will not look down!”

When asked what Iliana thinks separates McDonald Building Company’s culture apart from others, she said “We are all eager to get into a new task, learn something new, and we are always looking for ways to improve. For example, our Education Committee (SQP), provides training developed by our staff for our own staff. It was a rewarding experience to have been part of the first committee, providing first-hand knowledge on different construction topics, operational skills, and most importantly hearing all our team members sharing best practices”.

“When I think of my career so far, I think of the people I have worked with and those experiences I have shared.”
