WHO WE ARE.

Building with Our People.

What Builds Us Up.

Life at McDonald Building Company is a perfect blend of care and concise work. We cultivate a safe, vibrant, and educational environment that is important to us, and we are proud to promote a professional yet relaxed, company style for everyone to thrive - whether in the field or the office. It is our robust and talented people that build us up each day and bring a depth of experiences and skills to each and every project. We energize each other, support each other, seek out varied perspectives and most importantly - we love what we do. We also enjoy our daily dose of fun!

As a mid-size, family-focused firm, we are increasingly mighty with the recent completion of several larger scale projects spanning from Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the surrounding metro areas. Ranked in the Top 25 Contractors in the Philadelphia Region, we are honored to build for some of the most impactful developers in the area.

We’re just built for this.

We Build on Education.

We enjoy fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and providing us all with the resources and support needed to succeed. MBC offers all-staff educational training with topics ranging from industry best practices to professional development. These monthly trainings, hosted by an internal education committee, encourages an open and interactive environment that supports creativity and knowledge-sharing with a focus AND BALANCE on Safety, Quality, and Productivity (SQP). SQP is what we prioritize as a foundation to pre-plan all construction activities to support staff operations and procedures the “MBC Way”. This emphasis provides a sense of well thought-out intention and guides our project teams to build with these philosophies in mind.

We Build on Innovation.

One of our foundational values is Adaptability - Be Adaptive and Flexible. We like to try new things and welcome new opportunities to learn and grow to improve how we provide our services to your project. Therefore, we seek and search all opportunities to adopt and integrate transformative construction technology and progressive delivery methods to help you achieve your new possible - now and for the future. Our continuous investment in technology and advanced software to learn and try new approaches enables us to provide cutting-edge solutions to projects and offer our clients a competitive edge where it matters most - cost savings, quality, and sustainability.

We Build on Community.

It is very gratifying to our team at McDonald Building Company to partner with our projects well beyond when the doors open and occupy. We always jump in with both feet to support the greater mission of the organizations we build for and there is no greater reward than making a lasting impact on the community surrounding our work. From groundbreakings, to steel toppings, and ribboncuttings, there is always a reason to celebrate the milestones that support our built environment and the experiences we share with our MBC family along the way.

We take a strong interest in the AEC industry and local membership organizations that support rising students in the industry, those that value the Philadelphia’s history and traditions, and those that embrace networking and partnerships throughout all facets of construction.

Employee Spotlights

Ali Perkey, CHC

Project Manager

At MBC, APM usually stands for Assistant Project Manager. But if you know her, it also means Ali Perkey Moats. Ali started with us as a Project Engineer and quickly grew into a standout APM in 2022. This year in 2025, Ali now serves the company as an Awesome Project Manager. She has that rare mix of sharp project skills and easygoing energy that makes teams better just by having her in the room.

Ali says the best part of MBC is simple: the people. “There’s such a wealth of knowledge here, and we genuinely look out for each other. It makes coming to work every day meaningful.” That’s the spirit she brings to every project, whether building safe housing or shaping healthcare spaces that will serve entire communities. She’s been part of projects that matter, deeply helping to create safe housing for those experiencing homelessness, expanding healthcare facilities that advance treatment, and even supporting unique builds like the Philadelphia Zoo.

It’s been a wild ride the last five years for her but from 3.0 University Place to Honickman she’s covered just about all of it. One of her favorite memories is  the time she went behind the scenes at the Philadelphia Zoo and got to see inside the kangaroo exhibit (!) - not exactly a typical day on site. For Ali, those moments are proof that construction builds more than structures; it builds experiences.

Outside of work, Ali is just as full of life. She’s a lifetime Girl Scout (yes, Gold Award and Silver Trefoil), a scuba diver, traveler, and live music fan with her adorable daughter. She’s quick to grab a pickleball paddle, loyal to the football season (but for the sake of staying out of the witness protection program, she says, “Go Birds!”), and loves any Olympic sport she can find. If there’s ice cream involved, even better, but it has to be mint chocolate chip - green only. And her bucket list? Traveling and dining her way through the world’s top ten restaurants in the world – wine pairing optional.

So yes, her title is Project Manager. But around here, we know the truth: (Awesome) Project Manager on paper…Ali Perkey Moats in real life (yeah, yeah, we took a little creative liberty with her hyphenated name).

Confidence takes time. Ask questions, take accountability, and be kind.”

Kelly Giuliani, LEED AP BD+C

Project Manager

Kelly Giuliani has practically grown up at MBC. She started as an intern in 2016 while finishing her last semester at Temple and has been building her career here ever since. She elevated from Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager in 2022 and in 2025 now serves as Project Manager. Nearly a decade later, she still says the best part of MBC is the people, the family atmosphere, and the Friday “pencils down” happy hours that you don’t want to miss.

Kelly has been part of some incredible projects along the way. New Market West was her first out-of-the-ground project where she got to see the full process and leave her mark on a major community development. The AKA Hotel in Alexandria, VA stands out too, blending detail and design in a historic setting. For Kelly, the most rewarding part of her work is watching a vision on paper turn into a space that people can live in, work in, and enjoy.

Her advice to anyone starting out is simple: ask questions. She learned from engineers, architects, and foremen by staying curious, and she still carries that practice today. That same mindset has also kept her involved beyond her projects, where she contributes to safety, SQP, and Procore committees.

Outside of work, Kelly’s world is just as wonderfully full. She and her husband welcomed their son Nico earlier in 2025, and their two-year-old lab Reyna makes sure home life is never quiet. She loves weekends at the Shore, is a loyal Philly sports fan, and claims coffee ice cream as her go-to dessert. She is also a Friends rerun regular and a true Bravo Housewives guru.

And if there were ever a Real Housewives of Project Managers, we already know her tagline: “I’m here to build people up and get things DONE.” Look out Bravo – there’s a new franchise on the horizon.

“I think the general understanding everyone has that family is the priority makes our team culture unique.”
