MBC celebrates not only our ugliest sweaters but the retirement of one of our Superintendents, Adam Blitchford…
‘Tis the season to be the jolly and MBC came out in full force with our best and ugliest sweaters this year for one festive happy hour. But these smiles are really just hiding our resting grinch faces over the bittersweet news of one of our superintendents, Adam Blitchford’s retirement. Adam was with MBC for over seven years and worked on a variety of projects during his time at MBC near and far. Most recently, he was down at 1315 Walnut Street overseeing their HVAC Systems Replacement. Other notable projects Adam led included Salvation Army's Kroc Center in Camden, Project HOME’s Honickman Learning Center in Phila, Ancillae Assumpta Academy's renovation in Wyncote, and Project HOME’s Rowan Judson Diamond in Phila – just to name a few. Adam will leave an everlasting legacy around here and we will miss his quick wit and reliable work ethic at our job sites. Thank you Adam for seven memorable years of service and for all you did to make the impossible…well, possible.

MBC remembers Frank McDonald fondly (1929-2022)
With the heaviest of hearts, MBC announces the passing of the irreplaceable patriarch himself, Frank McDonald.
We are sad to report the passing of Francis J. McDonald, father and mentor to Tom & Paul, and grandfather to several other MBC team members - Andrew, Danny, & Kevin Rose. Frank was 93. An electrical engineer by education and builder at heart, Frank spent the first part of his career working for large electrical contractors, several construction/development companies, and ultimately as a construction manager for LF Driscoll. He was the inspiration behind Tom & Paul’s entrée into the construction industry and a passionate leader of large-scale construction projects in the Philadelphia region before relocating to upstate NY. He co-founded a successful real estate firm with his wife Willie Bea and remained active in the business until last year. Frank had a large part in the founding of MBC. His behind-the-scenes advice helped us grow and prosper, and it will be missed. As late as this past fall, he loved talking “shop”, reminiscing on past projects, and more importantly talking about the many friends and co-workers he made over the years. His memory was remarkable and if you crossed paths with him, he likely remembered you. We are thankful for his impact, will miss him dearly, and we know he is looking down on the MBC team with pride.

Combining healthy housing & onsite quality healthcare is the future of affordable senior living. McDonald Dale Strategic Alliance (MDSA) proudly hosted our second annual Trade Partners Appreciation Lunch at the 3.0 University Place jobsite over on Market Street this past week!🥳 Dos Hermanos Food Truck swung by the site and fed a very hungry crowd with lots of delicious tacos and burritos. 🌮🤩🌯 The weather was just perfect and we were lucky to have MBC volunteers hand out some pretty sweet MDSA-branded shirts to commemorate such a wonderful occasion. 3.0 University Place demonstrates Community Commitment and being a good neighbor in collaboration with Paul Robeson High School for Cafeteria Renovation!
When UPA began developing the "Platinum Corridor" and 3.0 University Place, they made a focused commitment to serve as a steward and good neighbor to the community. 🏙️🤝🏘️ And so, in partnership with UPA and TSP, MDSA was pleased to work together with Paul Robeson High School and renovate their student cafeteria, located directly across the street from our 3.0 University Place project.👷♀️🏫👷Equipped with new floors, ceiling tiles, and bright new furniture, we gathered with political leaders, students, community advocates, and the 3.0 University Place site team to cut the ribbon in celebration of this powerful community partnership. Paul Robeson HS was slated to close in 2013, but under Principal Richard Gordon’s leadership, PRHS remained open and was later recognized in 2017 as Most Improved High School in Philadelphia. Gordon is nationally recognized for his educational leadership as 3-time PA Principal of the Year among several other well-deserved, high-profile accolades. He is passionately dedicated to his students and was eager to partner with us on this cafe redesign...in fact, even included the students in the design process with TSP Architects. The community circle on this renovation was tight-knit from start to finish and we hope a collaboration like this continues to inspire others in University City of what is possible. This is what a community in construction development can truly look like when private & public partnerships come together. 🤝❤️🤝

Steel, glorious steel! The 400 West Elm jobsite over in West Conshohocken reached a momentous milestone today with their Steel Topping Off Ceremony. 🏗🙌🏗 The final beam was placed atop the structure this morning with the city of Conshy and Schuylkill River Waterfront providing a perfect backdrop for this celebratory occasion. Nothing can quite top that! 👷♀️😅👷♂️Just about 2,200 tons of steel was fabricated for the steel structure. While there is more work to come for this 348-unit luxury apartment complex - today, we celebrated the hard work that led up to this point. McDonald Building Company would like to thank and congratulate our irreplaceable partners at Equus Capital Partners, Ltd. and JDAVIS Architects on this achievement. 🤝🥂🤝

Equipped with several amenities such as a community room, dining & fitness facilities, and on-grade parking, this impactful space provides seniors and individuals with disabilities the opportunity for independent living. The chill in the air reminds us that fall is here and it’s time to let Batman, the Drone, out to spread his “wings”. 🦇📸🦇 For today’s Flyby Friday, Batman swooped over the 400 W. Elm jobsite in West Conshohocken to take a peek at the progress. The 445,000+ square foot 348-unit ultra-luxury residential apartment complex is well under way! Steel is about fully erected and precast planking is allmmooost done on 10 floors of the 13 story building. Exterior panels, interior layouts and MEP rough-in has officially started on floors 1-3 with more incredible work yet to come. 🙌 Batman is looking forward to sharing more progress at this tremendous site soon – and we are too! Maybe even a glimpse of steel topping off in our future?!? 😏🏗😏

McDonald Building Company is proud to share the FINAL photos of the Trinity Health PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) project at Kinder Park. 🤩🙌🤩 The Trinity PACE Program offers seniors the ability and support needed to live independently. Our work included 14,000+ square feet of a new reception area, exam rooms, offices, a PT suite, and support spaces.
