MBC team attends ASHE regional All-Day Training ICRA 2.0 hosted by HFMADV

Yesterday, several members of the MBC crew attended the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) all-day regional ICRA Class 2.0 hosted by the Healthcare Facilities Management Association of Delaware Valley (HFMADV). ASHE and this course aim to offer a full understanding of the Infection Control Risk Assessment Program to perform specialized construction in a hospital setting. Great job, fellas! MBC Ladies take March, Women's History Month, to a whole new LEVEL with Habitat for Humanity

What do you get when a bunch of talented AEC people gather in a room to play Giant Jenga for a good cause? A towering night of fun and LEAN competition that really levels the playing field. McDonald Building Company was well represented with two teams last week at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia. MBC enjoys Ugly Sweater Happy Hour and gives well wishes to one of our superintendents, Adam Blitchford, in his retirement!

‘Tis the season to be the jolly and MBC came out in full force with our best and ugliest sweaters this year for one festive happy hour. But these smiles are really just hiding our resting grinch faces over the bittersweet news of one of our superintendents, Adam Blitchford’s retirement. Adam was with MBC for over seven years and worked on a variety of projects during his time at MBC near and far. Most recently, he was down at 1315 Walnut Street overseeing their HVAC Systems Replacement. Other notable projects Adam led included Salvation Army's Kroc Center in Camden, Project HOME’s Honickman Learning Center in Phila, Ancillae Assumpta Academy's renovation in Wyncote, and Project HOME’s Rowan Judson Diamond in Phila – just to name a few. Adam will leave an everlasting legacy around here and we will miss his quick wit and reliable work ethic at our job sites. Thank you Adam for seven memorable years of service and for all you did to make the impossible…well, possible.

MBC remembers Frank McDonald fondly (1929-2022)

We are sad to report the passing of Francis J. McDonald, father and mentor to Tom & Paul, and grandfather to several other MBC team members - Andrew, Danny, & Kevin Rose. Frank was 93. An electrical engineer by education and builder at heart, Frank spent the first part of his career working for large electrical contractors, several construction/development companies, and ultimately as a construction manager for LF Driscoll. He was the inspiration behind Tom & Paul’s entrée into the construction industry and a passionate leader of large-scale construction projects in the Philadelphia region before relocating to upstate NY. He co-founded a successful real estate firm with his wife Willie Bea and remained active in the business until last year. Frank had a large part in the founding of MBC. His behind-the-scenes advice helped us grow and prosper, and it will be missed. As late as this past fall, he loved talking “shop”, reminiscing on past projects, and more importantly talking about the many friends and co-workers he made over the years. His memory was remarkable and if you crossed paths with him, he likely remembered you. We are thankful for his impact, will miss him dearly, and we know he is looking down on the MBC team with pride.

It’s always a bittersweet day at MBC when we say goodbye to our co-ops and interns. 😭😌😭 MBC was thrilled to have Julia Eustace and Gia Hunt part of the MBC family this summer as these strong ladies served as a tremendous resource at the 400 W. Elm jobsite. Julia assisted the field in foundations/steel/plank production tracking and daily reports while Gia followed certain trades from the engineering side, coordinated interior finishes and assisted with the Building Envelope. In-TENTS competition commences during SQP's team building activity all about Site Utilization Program

This past week, MBC took on the challenge of pitching camping tents before our monthly SQP education training...some needed instructions and some relied on prior experience to build their tent the quickest (and pass a quality check!). 👷‍♀️✅👷‍♂️ Our best scouts came to win, and things got pretty in-TENTS ⛺️ quickly! Tent building proved to be the perfect activity to get our staff in the right mindset for the upcoming training on Site Utilization Program or "SUP". A sturdy well built tent is like a good SUP - there's clear instructions to lay the groundwork for a successful build. Now that's what SUP with Team Building at MBC...😂😅😂 Congrats to our winning team - Regina, Sharon, Gia, Brad, and Jack. 🏆 Our superintendent Adam was one of the winners of the tent giveaway, you camp say he's knot excited!
