MBC Digs special Networking Event hosted at Diggerland USA in South Jersey

Can you dig it?! 🚜👷🚜 MBC enjoyed soaking up the sun (and a few scattered clouds) yesterday for the Focus Four & More – Digging into Safety event hosted at the one and only construction theme park in America, Diggerland USA! It was a fantastic turn out filled with safety demonstrations and lots of awesome vendors down in South Jersey. This family-friendly event was well attended by MBC staff and families out to enjoy the day’s festivities. Timelapse Tuesday! 🙌 The Apartments at New Market West is moving right along and gearing up for opening this summer, check out our progress! The Apartments will round out this multi-phase complex in West Philadelphia and will soon provide additional homes for the surrounding community. Congratulations is also in order for New Market West as the project was recently awarded one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s Project of the Year 2020! 🥳🥳🥳 New Market West Core and Shell, a Joint Venture project with CPM Housing Group, started as a 1.5 acre abandoned lot in West Philly and now flourishes as a five-story Class A commercial office and retail building serving tenants such as Mercy Senior Center and Wonderspring Early Learning Center among others. MBC attends 3.0 project ground breaking and celebrates Scott Mazo’s Philadelphia Business Journal nomination

McDonald Building Company was delighted to attend the groundbreaking ceremony last week for 3.0 University Place in University City, Southwest Philadelphia. 🥳🥳🥳 This incredible 250,000+ square foot Life Sciences landmark is now underway adjacent to University Place 2.0 and will offer innovative lab and commercial space for pioneering tenants including Wistar Institute and Ben Franklin Technology Partners. MBC has joined forces with DALE Corporation to form the McDonald Dale Strategic Alliance (MDSA) as we embark on this exciting project. It was a beautiful day to celebrate the beginning of some remarkable accomplishments together! 🎉🤝🎉

McDonald Building Company honors National Fall Safety Stand-Down Week with an awesome and informative Fall Protection class. 🚧 MSA’s Andy DeLair (and their volunteer, Woody) paid a visit to the Main Office in Norristown to share the knowledge all about Personal Fall Arrest Harness training. Our superintendents were happy to try out their new MSA branded/MBC issued gear including these nifty new harnesses. MBC announces newly expanded office space , The Bunker!

Movin on Up! 🤩🤩🤩 We are thrilled to announce that our newly expanded space, The Bunker (as we now call it), is now OPEN! Folks already started the move down there and we’re beyond thrilled with how it turned out. In what feels like a blink of an eye, we were able to get the space up and running to better serve the needs of our growing staff. This additional space will only help further fuel the expansion of McDonald Building Company. 🙌🙌🙌 It was a team effort, but we’d like to give a big thank you to our very own, Danielle Terpoilli! She was crucial to this project’s success. From coordinating wall colors to compliment the new flooring, her expert décor eye and interior design skills made this space all it is and more. She did all of this in addition to her regular day-to-day duties as Assistant Estimator - talk about superwoman!! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♀️🦸‍♀️ We can’t thank you enough, Danielle! MBC Crew honors furry friends for National Pet Day on 4/11

Happy National Pet Day from some of our furry friends that make up the MBC crew! 🐾❤️🐾 Over the last few weeks, staff have been sending us pics of them with their fur babies. While getting a picture together with your pets can be like literally herding cats (but actually 😅)….We are paws-itively over the moon with how purrr-fect these turned out. MBC congratulates Kayla Dajnowski as she completes her Fall/Winter Drexel Co-Op with MBC

Drexel Co-Op Appreciation Post! Our Fall/Winter co-op, Kayla Dajnowski, started with us six months ago and she is finishing up her last few days here at MBC this week. Stationed at the Main Office, she was a HUGE help to our Preconstruction Department supporting the team with several responsibilities including sub bids & database management, Procore deep diving, and even jumping into cost takeoffs. Fortunately, Kayla will maintain working with MBC part-time (yay!) as she continues on with her courses, we are thrilled to keep her on board! Kayla plans to graduate Spring of 2023 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. MBC is proud to participate in Drexel’s Co-Op Program offering undergrads the opportunity to have hands-on experience in the AEC field. MBC celebrates completion of gym expansion for Ray and Joan Kroc Community in Camden, NJ

Drum roll please…it’s time for the big reveal! A few weeks ago we gave you a little sneak peek at our work down in Camden, NJ and the gymnasium expansion at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center is now officially complete. 🥳🥳🥳 The space is immediately being put to good use by serving the Camden community as a COVID-19 vaccine center. Construction starts at latest MBC Project, Woodlawn Storage Facility

And just like that…MBC is excited to have another project starting up. Construction has officially started at the Woodlawn Life Storage Facility in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia! Stay tuned to watch this tight site turn into a beautiful 6-story,131,000 square foot self-storage facility. The site formerly served as a parking lot and a long time ago was an autobody shop. Site excavation is set to start later this week, while the project team is prepping diligently on a safety plan for the surrounding community. JKRP Architects is serving as the Architect-of-Record and the build is expected to last about a year. MBC celebrates finishing touches on Kroc Center and retirement of Superintendent, Bruce Jones

MBC is proud of this beautiful build for the Salvation Army, Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center in Camden...we are jussssst about complete. This 4,500 sq. ft. steel-framed addition is an expansion for a larger gymnasium and multipurpose room for visitors primarily from the Camden Community. MBC was happy to take on this expansion to only enhance the remarkable work that Kroc Center provides! Stay tuned for a view of the inside when they officially open. 🙌👀🙌

Kroc had a MBC all-star team with the best of the best, including our own, Bruce Jones, as the Project Superintendent. Bruce has given two fantastic years to MBC serving at John Brooks Recovery Center in South Jersey and is now leaving Kroc Center as his last project before he starts his retirement. We wish you nothing but the best, Bruce! MBC celebrates final touches on Honickman Learning Center for Project HOME

McDonald Building Company is starting February on a great note as renovations over at the Honickman Learning Center are just about wrapped up! In less than a year, MBC partnered with Project HOME to replace the roof, spruce up all finishes including flooring & walls, as well as new MEP systems to enhance the services Honickman provides. Located in North Philadelphia, these fresh upgrades will further serve residents of the community to utilize a modernized building for their technology needs and instructional classes. McDonald Building Company and Girder-Slab collaborate on Hamilton II Short Feature

As we look forward to a healthy and prosperous 2021, we had the opportunity to reflect back during the early days of the pandemic and appreciate some positive notes of a historic year in construction. One of the silver linings of 2020 was a vital partnership we had with Girder-Slab Technologies in the build of Hamilton II’s superstructure.

Widely because of this collaboration, Hamilton II persevered through weeks of shutdown and remains on track to open later this year on the original timeline. Here’s a sneak peak of our invaluable partnership with Girder-Slab on this project.

MBC Norristown Site undergoes Office Expansion - New Year, New View!

New Year, New View! 🙌🤩🙌 MBC is expanding our main office to the lower level of our Norristown headquarters. As we continue to grow, we are in the midst of building out “The Bunker” (as we fondly like to call it) to better support our growing staff and priority training needs. 👷👷‍♀️👷‍♂️ Equipped with several more offices and an expansive training room, we are thrilled to start the New Year with a big change. Lead Superintendent, Pete Perri, retires after 9+ years at MBC!

It’s a bittersweet day at McDonald Building Company. We have the great fortune to watch our very own, Pete Perri, move onto his next great chapter as he retires from MBC after 9+ years! 🥳🥳🥳 Pete served as our General Road Superintendent and Lead Superintendent on several projects (and part-time superhero) as one of our very first employees. Pete has worn so many hats day in and day out that it’s near impossible to sum up all his accomplishments at MBC throughout the years. Pete was our main man when MBC built our current Norristown office in 2015, and he is now vital in transitioning his lead on our office bunker expansion project here in just 6 weeks. Not only was he the “funny guy on campus” with his sarcastic humor, he always had his “Pete” way of making everyone feel part of the MBC family. ❤❤❤ We will miss seeing Pete in his MBC truck as he visits the jobsites and we will certainly miss his classic ugly Christmas sweaters. While we’re sad to see Pete go, we know that he’s going to enjoy retirement in the beautiful Kill Devil Hills of Outer Banks. We heard the Outer Banks may be a great spot for our MBC Vacation Home…right, Pete?!? 😂😅😬
